General
Each day follows a steady rhythm that helps children feel grounded and inspired.
We begin with free play at drop-off, then a short hike, gentle stretches, calming breaths, and affirmations. We share snack together, enjoy plenty of movement and open-ended play, explore the forest on a nature walk, create something inspired by the land, eat lunch outdoors, and take a slow hike back for pickup.

Comfort and movement come first. Children should arrive prepared with layers that keep them cozy and able to explore in all weather. We move between different natural spaces throughout the day, so clothing should be simple, easy to manage, and suitable for a variety of conditions. During fall and winter months rental of waterproof rainsuits is included in registration fees. Use of our rain suits are required in order to ensure each child has the same capability to comfortably immerse themselves in nature in all conditions. Our waterproof rain sets consist of a jacket and pants. Light, warm, comfortable layers are recommended for layering underneath the provided gear. Rainboots are recommended for all wetter months or anytime we have had rain within the last week. Comfortable closed toe tennis shoes are recommended for all other conditions. Water shoes may be recommended for warmer months but should be packed as a secondary shoe and not primary footwear unless they double as comfortable, closed toed walking shoes.
Outdoor learning supports children socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.
Nature helps children:
• Build confidence and resilience
• Strengthen sensory and motor development
• Regulate emotions through movement and calm spaces
• Explore ideas with creativity and curiosity
• Practice cooperation and problem-solving
• Develop a deep connection to the natural world
With the right layers and steady movement, children thrive outside all year.
In winter we focus on staying warm, exploring slowly, taking warm-up breaks when needed, and watching for comfort.
Winter brings some of the most magical learning with puddles, mud, rain songs, quiet forests, and big seasonal changes. It truly is one of the most magical times to explore the forest, and the most fun.
Your child might be a great match if they:
• Enjoy being outdoors or are curious about it
• Love exploring, moving, climbing, and creating
• Do well with a calm, steady daily rhythm
• Are open to getting messy, muddy, or wet
• Can carry a simple backpack comfortably
If you’re not sure, we’re happy to chat with you.
